PREP COURSES AND STUDIENKOLLEG (FOUNDATION COURSES)
\nIn the case of your school \u2013 leaving document is invalid in Germany,"Studienkolleg", known as the
\nfoundation course, needs to be cleared, followed by a final test, called – "Feststellungspr\u00fcfung", towards
\ngaining a position in a German university. Or else another option in case you feel you are not yet ready,
\nyou may pursue a language course or a preparatory course (called the \u201cProp\u00e4deutikum\u201d).
\nYou can check whether your qualifications are enough and whether you need to undergo
\n"Studienkolleg" (foundation course).
\nThe "Studienkolleg" is also known as a preparatory course in English. But preparatory courses could
\nbe\u00a0also\u00a0a\u00a0"Prop\u00e4deutika" (as mentioned below), which comprises of other content\u00a0and also that does
\nnot have the "Feststellungspr\u00fcfung" towards the finishing part.
\nSTUDIENKOLLEG \/ FOUNDATION COURSE –
\n"Studienkolleg"\u00a0 \/ the Foundation course are available at universities of applied sciences. And are not
\navailable at all higher education institutions. The programs have a combination of different key topics
\nthat guide students in areas that are subject \u2013 specific.
\nIn case you take the "Feststellungspr\u00fcfung", known as the university qualification test, at a university of
\napplied sciences, you have the option to pursue studies there, once you are done. The overseas office at
\ninstitution where you complete you higher education, would be able to guide you with the right
\n"Studienkolleg" \u2013 program. "Studienkolleg"- programs vary from each another.
\nDIFFERENT PROGRAMS AT UNIVERSITIES
\nM-course\u00a0\u2013 This category is for potential students for dentistry, pharmacy, biochemistry, medicine, ,
\nbioinformatics, biology and other medical, veterinary medicine , biological or pharmaceutical degree
\nprogrammes.
\nW-course\u00a0\u2013 This category is for prospective students of business administration and economics (BWL
\nand VWL) and various social science degree and economics courses.
\nG-course\u00a0\u2013 This category is for potential students of foreign language degree and all humanities related
\ncourses.
\nT-course\u00a0\u2013 This category is for potential students of mathematical, scientific or technical degree and
\nnatural science degree courses, with the exception of biochemistry and biology courses.
\nS-course\u00a0– This category is only for language courses only.
\nFor an entry into the "Studienkolleg"- program, there are some basic criteria as follows –<\/p>\n
Excellent German know how (Level B1 of the\u00a0Common European Framework).
\nExpenses to support yourself in Germany (financial resource evidence).
\nAn authentic \/ Valid\u00a0Visa
\nStudents must partake of entrance test to prove language skills. In case your German language is not
\nsound, you may partake a language course in Germany itself. In certain universities, this course is taken
\nconsideration, once you apply for admission to a\u00a0"Studienkolleg"- course.
\nThe foundation course ("Studienkolleg") is free of cost in a\u201d state higher education institution\u201d. But
\nstudents doing the program are liable to pay the semester contribution that is commonly paid by all
\nstudents.
\nA "Studienkolleg"- program comprises of two semesters, with 30 hours of studies per week. Students
\nwho have done exceptionally well, can partake "Feststellungspr\u00fcfung" (university qualification exam)
\nafter one semester itself.
\nUNIVERSITY QUALIFICATION EXAM (FESTSTELLUNGSPR\u00dcFUNG)
\nTowards the finishing period of\u00a0"Studienkolleg" (foundation course), the "Feststellungspr\u00fcfung"
\n(university qualification exam), is mandatory for students. This exam touches many a subject areas that
\nare important for the subject you would like to study in the future. language exam is not part of this.
\nPREPARATORY COURSES (PROP\u00c4DEUTIKA)
\nIn case you want to do a Master\u2019s degree, "Studienkolleg" – course at a university is not required.
\nHowever, you may\u00a0partake\u00a0a\u00a0Prop\u00e4deutikum\u00a0(preparatory course \/introductory course). Also, if you
\nwant to study for your Bachelor's degree in Germany but do not have to attend a "Studienkolleg" –
\ncourse, students may join a\u00a0preparatory course.
\nIn this kind of an introductory program, students are required to prepare mainly for your degree course
\nthat is language and knowledge of your subject. Sometimes there will be an induction towards the
\nGerman academic system and academic work methodologies, meaning when you start your degree
\nprogramme later on, it will be simpler to adjust to your student life in Germany.

\n\uf0b7 For those who are yet to be admitted, but have already met the criteria to study in

These courses finish within a few weeks\u00a0or last for 1 or 2\u00a0semesters.
